Our Mission
Creation Homeschool Enrichment (CHE) exists to encourage a Christ-centered community where homeschooling families learn, serve, and grow together through enrichment classes, fellowship, and shared experiences.
Our Locations
CHE meets at First United Methodist Church of Apopka and the Creative Hub of Apopka. We are grateful to use these facilities and ask every family to help care for them by cleaning up after themselves and treating the property with respect.
CHE families are responsible for supervising their own children while on campus. Our host facilities do not provide childcare or assume responsibility for CHE activities.
Membership
To participate in CHE, families must:
-
Meet membership requirements.
-
Attend the summer parent meeting.
-
Complete all required forms and agreements.
-
Pay membership and supply fees by the registration deadline.
-
Have children who are at least 4 years old by September 1 and fully potty trained (unless approved by the Board).
-
Serve in at least one volunteer role during the school year.
Registration opens after volunteer positions have been filled, with priority given to Board members, teachers, class helpers, and other volunteers.
Attendance & Withdrawals
Families are expected to attend regularly and notify class leaders as soon as possible if they will be absent. Since classes and budgets are planned around enrollment, membership fees and supplies are generally non-refundable. Refund requests for unusual circumstances may be considered by the Board.
Parent Responsibilities
CHE is a cooperative—not a drop-off program, with exceptions for drop-off rates for HIGH SCOOL STUDENTS ONLY.
Parents are expected to:
-
Supervise their children whenever they are not in class or ensure they are with an approved caregiver.
-
Complete their volunteer responsibilities or arrange a substitute if needed.
-
Support teachers and help maintain a respectful, encouraging atmosphere.
-
Treat leaders, volunteers, church staff, other families, and property with respect.
Student Expectations
Students are expected to:
-
Show kindness and respect to others.
-
Follow classroom rules and directions.
-
Stay in designated CHE areas.
-
Keep cell phones put away unless permitted by the teacher.
-
Dress appropriately and help maintain a positive, Christ-centered environment.
Behavior concerns will first be addressed with parents. If needed, parents may be asked to remain with their child during class. Continued concerns may be reviewed by the Board.
Classes
Students are generally placed according to age and grade level. Adjustments may be made with parent and Board approval to better meet a student's educational needs.
Some classes may require families to purchase books or materials not provided by CHE. This would be noted ahead of time.
Volunteer Teachers
Our classes are made possible by volunteer parents who prepare lessons, teach from a Biblical worldview, arrange substitutes when needed, clean their classrooms, and ensure students are safely released to parents. Parents who are not filling a teaching role are expected to supervise in hallways and restrooms during breaks.
For everyone's safety, no adult should ever be alone in a classroom with a child. Teacher's should ask about food allergies before providing food for any projects in class.
Health & Illness
Please keep your family home if anyone has a fever, vomiting, sore throat, lice, or another contagious illness. Children should be symptom-free for at least 24 hours before returning.
Please inform teachers of any allergies or medical concerns.
Safety
CHE follows Orange County Public School weather closures whenever possible. If severe weather requires cancellation, families will be notified by 8:00 a.m.
Parents, volunteers, and students are expected to follow all emergency procedures, including fire, severe weather, medical emergencies, and lockdown situations. Classroom doors should remain locked, and children using the restroom should always be supervised by an adult.
Outdoor & Facility Guidelines
Children must remain with an adult while outdoors and play only in approved areas.
Occasionally, room assignments or schedules may need to change due to church or facility needs. We appreciate everyone's flexibility and understanding.
